Meet John

John Bailey is at the helm of ABJ’s vision and growth. He handles all brokerage operations, orchestrates its financial strategy, identifies business development opportunities, and supervises the investment and transaction process for its management and advisory teams.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Bailey unearthed his knack for real estate while attending Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center (Business) in high school. Following this epiphany, he committed his entire professional career to the realm of commercial real estate. In 2004, during his tenure at Northwood University, he joined Options Real Estate, a local landlord representation firm. Bailey excelled in managing a diverse portfolio exceeding five million square feet, comprising hospitality, retail, office, land, and industrial properties. His pursuit of excellence took him to Mohr Partners, an esteemed global corporate real estate advisory firm, where he offered corporate real estate portfolio transaction services to clients globally.

2008 brought the most severe recession since the Great Depression, but Bailey saw an opportunity amidst the crisis. Recognizing a chance to enhance value for investors and operators, he established The Allan Bailey Group, LLC. United by their shared vision of fostering leadership and driving change within the commercial real estate industry, John Bailey and Avery Johnson co-founded The Allan Bailey Johnson Group, LLC (ABJ). Their dedication to excellence attracted a team of proficient professionals with a collective experience of over 60 years in real estate.

Their collaborative efforts have culminated in ABJ ranking among the country’s largest certified African American-owned tenant representation and investment services firms. With an illustrious career spanning over eighteen years, Bailey has completed approximately 700 real estate transactions, demonstrating consistent reliability for investors and operators in the field. He has raised an impressive $90 million in investment capital and currently oversees assets valued at over $31 million.

Beyond his professional commitments, Bailey is passionately engaged in offering mentorship and exposure to low-income communities in Southern Dallas. He devotes considerable time to these endeavors, embodying his active role in community development.
